About Eco Nalanda
Eco Nalanda, under the Bodhisattvas Trust M.R.C, is dedicated to harmonizing spiritual wisdom with ecological sustainability. Situated in Bylakuppe, India—approximately 155 miles southwest of Bangalore and home to the largest Tibetan settlement outside Tibet—our campus serves as a sanctuary for education, environmental conservation, and community development.

The campus features a main temple, administrative offices, classrooms, dormitories, and dining facilities, catering to 300 students of all ages, from young children to seniors. Students bear the responsibility for maintaining the campus surroundings, reflecting Eco Nalanda’s philosophy of prioritizing the needs of others for the greater good of society.

Our training emphasizes hands-on learning and practical experience over theoretical knowledge, fostering a culture of self-reliance, compassion, and community-oriented growth. At Eco Nalanda, we cultivate holistic development by blending spiritual wisdom with rigorous ecological and social responsibility.
Eco Nalanda incorporate practices such as yoga and tai chi to enhance focus and well-being, along with team sports like soccer to foster teamwork and leadership abilities. The curriculum at Eco Nalanda encompasses Environmental Technology, Buddhist philosophy courses, meditation, Thangka painting, and the study of languages such as Tibetan, English, South East Asian Languages, and Kannada (the local language of the state of Karnataka).

Through this holistic approach to education, Eco Nalanda students embody the spirit of the community - a spirit grounded in compassion, wisdom, and unity.
